The Pet Castle is Gloucester’s only independent, non–franchise pet supply store. We specialize in high quality pet products for all pets. Our staff at The Pet Castle are all very knowledgeable of the products we offer, and of pet care for many different types of pets. Though The Pet Castle offers superior products and customer service, their prices are comparable to, and many times lower than, big box stores that have less caring and knowledgeable staff.
We’re Richard and Elaine Clayton, the owners of The Pet Castle. We moved to Gloucester in December of 2004 and immediately bought a German Shepherd Dog, Gunther, who is one of the official product testers for The Pet Castle today. Gunther was an addition to a cat and two aquariums that moved with us. Greta, our second GSD, came along a year later, and Veilchen is a rescue that wandered into the right yard in December of 2006; she is a Doberman.
After seeing a need for a quality pet supply store, we began to discuss the possibility of opening one. In early 2007, the decision was made to open a pet store, and on June 27th, we opened our doors for business. Since then, we have worked very hard to grow the store, and have also grown our own family to include two snakes, a blue tongue skink, and a very old rat. In addition, many pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge.
In addition to all our pets, we have, since opening The Pet Castle, had a daughter born in June of 2010. Abigail Clayton has become the most important “pet” in our lives.
The Pet Castle boasts some of the greatest employees in Gloucester. They give their absolute best customer service, and are very knowledgeable of many different types of pets. In addition, they are capable of explaining the pros, cons and usage of every product in the store.
In addition to our wonderful employees, we have “working customers” who enjoy being able to come in and spend time socializing our pets for sale, and sometimes even performing some chores around the store. The Pet Castle is much more than just a pet supply store, it is a community of pet lovers. Without our customers and “working customers,” The Pet Castle would not be what it is today.

When you do, you will receive an envelope with a playing card in it. Only one card per day, though. Keep collecting cards all month long to build your best poker hand.
